Lighting

Emergency lighting : One of my first clients is HBI-Bisscheroux, known for emergency lighting. Over the years I have developed various controls for this company, from standard LED lighting to a complete control for emergency lighting. The intelligent controls provide a smooth light transition between day and night, a radar sensor to automatically switch on the lamp when movement is detected, a NiCad battery with charging device, a temperature sensor with heating element to protect the battery against freezing, the car -test programs for emergency lighting, a DALI interface and finally a wireless LoRa connection for wireless communication.

In the meantime, together with the company Power Electron, a completely new generation of lamps has been developed, also suitable for higher powers.

Mood lighting : A creative project, mood lighting for the experience park in Emmen. The Dorlight company in Otterloo has selected the fixture and adjusted it where necessary. EmDev has developed the control for this lamp. Normally the light of a ‘candle flame’ is imitated, but it is also possible to use the lamp as emergency lighting.

After hours of candle flame staring, I converted the flame’s behavior into some program rules. The result looked so natural that a selection committee chose our lamp. The total lamp consists of five prints. The image on the right is the main PCB on which three LED boards are mounted.

LED control with solar panel : Timberlab has asked EmDev to develop a specific solar panel control for their EYE outdoor lamp.

The received solar energy must be used as optimally as possible, both when charging the batteries during the day and when controlling the LED at night. By using energy-efficient components, an optional motion sensor and a smart microcontroller, the affordable control meets the required goals.
